Hello from Moab!
The Tribute has been great so far. Have traveled through beautiful landscapes and met many great people of all ages and walks of life that are interested in what I’m trying to accomplish and the charities involved. Their interaction has been great amongst hours and hours of solitude on the road. Will update different waypoints…
Lubbock
Spent the day with my sis, walked around Tech Campus, and worked on uploading videos and posts.
Austin to San Angelo to Lubbock
My birthday! First real day traveling unknown roads. Took 71 to San Angelo, stopping in Llano to look around town and get a few pics of their veterans memorial…really enjoyed the trip other than a little birthday present from a Texas State Trooper. Ate my last Tex-mex meal at a restaurant called Fuentes’. Met the…
Austin
Enjoyed the Republic of Texas Rally. Had the only BMW I saw there, but everyone was friendly. Checking out all the bikes is always fun, and Ted Nugent put on a great concert that night. Worked on the website a bit, reduced my gear load, and made a few tweaks to the Bike on Sunday….
Ranch to Austin
Stopped at a few interesting places along the way. Saw the gravesite of a revolutionary war veteran who served in the Continental Army Line Infantry. He also went on to support the Texas Revolution in his later years. Stopped by a few other historical markers and Crockett, TX as well where I drank from a…
The Ranch Memorial
Stopped by the Ranch to hopefully get a good sunrise shot and pictures of the Memorial to Paw Paw. Was fortunate to catch some great pics. Butterflies were everywhere around the Memorial. Took a few offroad trails on the way out, but cut the trail short when I buried the back end in soft sand. …
Houston to Port Arthur to Ranch
Stopped by the great guys at Gulf Coast BMW to say goodbye on my way out of Houston. Highly recommended if you ever need any service or advice for your bike or long distance trips. I then headed South to Galveston, crossed the Ferry to Bolivar Penninsula, and traveled through Crystal Beach to High Island…
Chapter 1, The McGee Ranch- The Tribute Begins
Gear is finalized, maps are marked, motorcycle modifications are complete. Website is…kinda finished . 3 months of preparation and 2 years of loss and searching. This is where it all begins. Below is the footage for the ride up to the Memorial for Pawpaw Bill, the strongest and greatest man I’ve ever known. 20,000 miles,…
Prologue End- Big Sam
Final stop….the end of the beginning. Drove by it a million times, but never stopped before. Apparently it is the third largest statue of a person of interest in the world. Beautiful green ride home from Dallas after a fresh rain…Indian Paintbrushes and Bluebonnets covered the countryside all the way home. Local staff at the…
Sean Patrick’s Day
Made it back to the motherland (albeit East L.A. Dallas) Fun with old friends and new from the Dallas P.D. I hate to say it, but they put Houston’s Saint Patrick’s Day festivities to shame.
